Partnering with God!

I was drawn this afternoon to a picture that the Lord showed me of 2 golden wedding rings. I remember when my husband and I first got married and we said our wedding vows to one another before God. This was a sacred moment and a promise or oath between one another and also between us and God Himself. I have often wondered how this ties in with the relationship we all have individually with The Lord. We see that He is the Bridegroom coming back for us, His precious Bride. When we come into a Saving knowledge of Him as believers and have our sins forgiven and are Born Again into His family as new born Believers, we begin a journey that will continue up until the time we are taken home or appear before Him again at His Second Coming.
I was reminded that the whole Earth is His creation and that He has given it to us to be stewards of on His behalf. Even though the evil one has had temporary reign over this earth, we know that he is a defeated foe because Jesus went to the Cross on our behalf. Jesus died and rose again so that our sins are canceled out and we have available to us redemption from the curse of sin, death and Hell. Therefore we are responsible before God to keep the covenant He has made with us. So just as in marriage, a bride is betrothed to her husband, the Lord Jesus Christ is our Husband and has purchased us with His own blood. As He has been raised, we also are raised from death to life.
Since the curse has been broken then it is our responsibility to rule and reign with Christ and take authority over sin, death, and Hell on His behalf. We are to fulfill all that He has commissioned us to do and go out into the whole world and preach the Gospel and see lives changed and many brought into the Kingdom of God. Sure, He could just get the mighty Angels, on His command, to go and do this themselves, carrying out His instructions and they would act accordingly. But He has chosen us, His sons and daughters to partner and co-labor with Him in bringing in the Harvest and seeing His Kingdom established on this Earth.
So why was the Holy Spirit given at Pentecost? Was it not to empower the Church to do the same works that He did and even greater works and therefore advance His soon coming return? For whatever the reason that God has purposed, we as the Body of Christ need to play our part in accomplishing the designated role that each one of us has been given while here on this Earth. I don’t think it is an optional extra for when we have the time or only when we feel like it.
When we finally go to Heaven there will be the full Revelation of things that at the moment may seem a mystery and difficult for us on Earth now to fully comprehend and grasp. We need to come into full maturity and fulfill our duty as the Body of Christ. I find it amazing that He has entrusted us with so much, but I know it is for training now for reigning with Him later in Heaven and on Earth in the future. So let us wake up and start taking responsibility for what we have been asked to do. I am waiting for that day when they will say, “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord”!
If a man makes a vow to the Lord, or takes an oath to bind himself with a binding obligation, he shall not violate his word, he shall do according to all that proceeds out of his mouth.
Numbers 30:2 (NASB)
Think of how we regard as blessed those wfho have endured. You have heard of Job’s endurance and you have seen the Lord’s purpose, that the Lord is full of compassion and mercy. And above all, my brothers and sisters, do not swear, either by Heaven or by Earth or by any other oath. But let your “Yes”be yes and your “No” be no, so that you may not fall into judgment.
James 5: 11-12 (NET)
I trust in God, so why should I be afraid? What can mere mortals do to me? I will fulfill my vows to You, O God, and will offer a sacrifice of thanks for Your help. For You have rescued me from slipping. So now I can walk in Your Presence, O God, in Your life-giving light.
Psalm56:11-13 (NLT)
For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill His good purpose.
Philippians 2:13 (NIV)
For we are His co-workers in God’s service. You are God’s field, God’s building. 1 Corinthians 3:9 (NIV)
Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor.
Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of 3 strings is not quickly broken.
Ecclesiastes 4:9,12 (NIV)
